Good Energy is Good Business
At AMS we believe a good business maintains strong ties to the community it serves. That’s why we dedicated a portion of the net revenues from each project we develop to a micro-lending fund supporting women, veteran and minority-owned business development. AMS partners with leading community development financial institutions to provide low-interest/no-interest loans, loan guarantees and business development support to existing small businesses and start-ups in the project area. Our Community Development Partners administer the loans and provide on-going advisory services and support to local entrepreneurs:
Micro loans. Macro impact. California is home to more than 3.4 million small businesses – employing half of the state’s private sector workers. But 45% of small businesses fail because they are unable to get the loan they need. Many businesses are unable to access loans from traditional financial institutions because they are too young or too small. Opportunity Fund works to expand access to financial services.
Working Solutions is a Community Development Financial Institution whose mission is to provide microentrepreneurs with the access to capital and resources they need to start or grow a successful business. We prioritize serving low-income individuals, women, and minorities. We support microenterprise growth as a strategy to strengthen the local economy, create jobs, and build strong communities. We provide small business loans (microloans) from $5,000 up to $50,000, five years of post-loan business coaching and advising, and referrals to small business resources.
